Considering offering this lovely lady to a perfect home, but we'll be picky! Tesla (JC Magic Two) would be seeking an advanced rider or trainer willing to be kind and patient with her. We would also consider an off-site care lease. We just want the best for her!
We've had Tesla since November 2022. She came to us sore from ears to tail. In spite of that, she had been willingly packing around lesson kids in her previous home.... (read more) She was very stoic and seemed resigned to living in discomfort. We gave her many months of rest, several rounds of pain medications, massage therapy, and PEMF. She also required corrective shoeing to restore balance. Tesla blossomed and we saw the spark return to her eyes. She has put on weight, muscle, and we've gradually built her topline. She still has some stiffness due to an old chest injury with lots of scar tissue, but she does work out of it. We're thrilled with her progress and have loved helping her realize she can enjoy a pain free life.
She enjoys learning and has FANTASTIC work ethic. She tries so hard. She is a naturally forward mover; you won't have to convince this mare to go. She does, however, come with some quirks/preferences, the main one being she is not very happy in a bridle. I've been riding her without one since summer 2023 and she's doing great. She doesnt do anything naughty in a bridle, but she gets tense, heavy, and speedy. Its not enjoyable for anyone. Even bitless, she'll just hang on the headstall. Without the bridle, she's relaxed, offers bend, maneuvers far better, and is engaged mentally. It actually feels safer without anything on her head. We'd love to find someone interested in continuing this kind of work with her. If your solution to a heavy or tense horse is to bit up and/or add a myriad of contraptions, please don't waste our time. I've worked too hard and she's too kind to have someone haul her around.
She does have fairly typical ottb feet. One foot is more underrun than the other so we keep her in front shoes with wedges to maintain proper angles. This has kept her vastly more comfortable than being barefoot. She also has clicky hocks, but has not been lame behind at all since we've had her.
If you're still reading, here are a few more wonderful traits. She responds beautifully to R+ training. Like most mares, when you've earned her trust and affection, she'll give you her best effort. She doesn't get hot with rest. I'm never nervous about getting on a powder keg even when she's been off for weeks. Her first ride after an 8 week winter break was bareback with no bridle and she didn't put a foot wrong. A very clever mare, it generally doesn't take long to teach her something. She's super willing over fences and seems to enjoy jumping. She's getting less zoomy each time we practice them, but jump work has not been heavy thus far.
