15.2 hands. #1,200 pounds, Buckskin gelding, "Head Horse.... (read more) " Barrel horse prospect! Big boned, good, correct size feet. Very sure footed in all kinds of terrain, crosses water, swims in the lake and is well accustomed to quads, dogs and lots of activity. Broke, broke, broke, moves of leg cues, collects up nicely, very light in bridle. Stands quietly, is easy to shoe, load and haul.
Ridden lots of miles on the trails in Cave Creek/Prescott Ranches gathering cattle to keep him in shape, legged-up and to get him out of the arena. A great minded gelding with a kind and measured disposition. Can do it all, ranch sorting, ranch rodeo, team roping, and has a lot of old fashioned ranching, cattle branding/round up experience
Best suited for mid-numbered Team Roping headers, stands square in box, no tricks and doesn’t get hot in box. Suitable for #4 and higher headers, but can really step up for Pros in longer score arenas. Super athlete is best way to describe him, stops and turns fast you can get unseated. Longer strided, better suited on longer set-ups, World Series money winner, multiple Jackpot money winner you will not get outrun; because he leaves box so hard, not a horse for beginning ropers.
Questions with answers in Bold lettering:
• Birth Date? How long have you had him? (Born 1/27/2003 / Purchased 12/9/2011)
• How often have you been roping on him? Every day for a month? (1 or 2 time in last 6 months)
• Have you ever let him get fresh? ( Bucky doesn’t really get too fresh and is NOT cold backed. he does get rested for months and is the same horse every time, just more energy to step out with, but will hold back and adapt to less skilled riders)
• Has this horse ever bucked? If I stay off him for months, he will drag his feet to go out and come in, but is pretty lively in between. Once you start loping him around and he feels pretty good he will hump up a little but always settles down, but has never bucked and is NOT cold backed
• How much has he been hauled? (A lot, most weeks, once or twice a week) for years
• Where has he been hauled? To USTRC ropings? Rodeos? (Twice a week for last couple years to practice on and some weekends Jack-potting or on round ups, hunting trips and camping trips)
• Has he been used outside the arena? Worked on a ranch? (Ridden outside in the Desert washes to keep him legged-up, loves to run full speed, down sandy, twisty washes)
• Has he ever acted up in the box? Ever just ran off? (Scores well, but will shake his head a little when running few.
• Does he haul well? Does he paw the ground tied to the trailer or "buddy up" real bad? (Hauls perfect, he is seasoned, will buddy up on trail if left behind and get a little upset, but does great by himself)
• Has he ever been hurt, sick, or unsound? (Strangles when younger, but sound and healthy easy keeper!!! Vet Checks welcome!
• Has he been clipped? Is he good to shoe? Hard to catch? (He is broke well, easy keeper, will lift his feet for you, no issues or problems, will come to me if I call him, does not evade when catching him)
This is the type everyone wants and is hard to find at this level of experience and is put together as one should with great confirmation
