Titan is a big Confident Puppy 17h - Normal Body and Saddle fit with a big old time TN Walker Head and sturdy Long Legs. Camping Expert, Quiet in the Trailer, Farrier, Confident out alone, leading, in a group of horses. Lower but not bottom of my 8 horses. I owned Titan for 8 years and sold him last year and he went to MN. His 66 yo new owner rode him in the Badlands, took him to Wyoming, Montana, took her sister ridding who only had one year experience, etc etc they went all over.... (read more) This late fall she contacted me and had come ill, doctors not expecting her to be with us by spring. She was too ill to show the horse to potential buyers, so I purchased him back for fear he would go to auction as the hubby and kids were not horse people. The next day we did the 22 hour road trip to retrieve him. He is too good of a horse to go to auction and not be appreciated for the gem he is.
I have rode this horse through a heard of 8 scared running deer on the trail, had him army crawl us up a muddy hill from out under a log to stand us up and finish the ride, and tromp through unbroke trail for 3 hours to capture a lost friends horse. No horse is bomb proof but if you get into a stupid situation this is the horse you want to be on because he trusts you to give him direction and thinks back to the rider before reacting.
Titan is an experienced healthy confident 20 year old trail horse. He can do more and go longer then most at 15years old. He is ready for a 15 mile ride on Friday and is ready to do the same Saturday and Sunday. He high lines and pickets, and is a good drinker. Traffic and farm safe. I have had 8 year old kids on the trail on him as well as friends husbands for their 2nd ride, and I enjoy him with 30+ years experience. He has always been owned by horse people, he loves attention but has never been let do bad things, he does not eat on the trail, he does not rush gaits, leads well, basically easy and enjoyable to be around. I have never needed to put shoes on him where we ride, but I would if I was going to Shawnee. He has shoes last year for Montana and WY rides.
I interviewed several people before placing him in what I thought was his new forever home. It was fun to see all the pictures and places she took him and shared. I am not disappointed to have him back here. If your looking for NOT your first horse I am happy to chat and share additional details, pictures, etc. If it seams like a good match you can come meet him in DeKalb IL, I have a small indoor area. If your interested we can set up a trail ride and see if you are a good match.
I currently have 8 horses and a mule baby in the works. Titan can stay here as long as needed this is not a fire sale. This horse is about as fully broke as they come so although a pleasure to ride I have other horse that need my attention and work. Titan is too good to to not get used and enjoys the trails and camping too much. He will do base as someone's special horse.
Shipping Notes
Will not ship without an in-person ride.
I re-train gaited horses, help owners, and re-home horses who are miss matched with their owners ridding abilities. We train gaited horses to think slow, confidently and ask the ridder for what they want. You want a horse to think to you, and about you, as their leader, the brain bone is the most important part of a horse. Most of the horses I work with just are not fully trained, they still think like they are alone, and that is what gets you in trouble out on the trail.... (read more) I like to ride and train horses that don't make me look like a good ridder, just good solid trail horses.
I grew up in Montana where we had 3000 acres ran cattle and always had a couple dozen of the cheapest Montana auction horses on hand. In my younger years I would ride any horse you could tie to a post long enough to get on as I though that made me a good ridder. Active in mounted search and rescue, cattle drives, and working ranch horses. I have also participated in mounted police horse training and providing therapy horses over the years. If you see a white hair woman out horse camping with three horses and still ridding in the rain that might be me.
I also enjoy my own small heard of my own 6-8 horses including Fred at 36 who still loves to go out for trail rides, and maybe a gaited mule in the oven for spring foal.
My real job supports my horse passion.
