River is a 14 year old Belgian mare standing 17.0 hands high. If you’re looking for family safe, here she is. River is the perfect horse for nearly any rider. She is personable and loves attention but isn’t pushy or in your space. She stands quietly in cross ties, stands to be groomed, tacked and stands for mounting and dismounting. River has three lovely gaits followed by an easy stop and she will stand all day if asked.... (read more) River is both trail and traffic safe and will gladly take you safely and quietly down a trail. She will hack alongside the road, she doesn’t mind semi’s, tractor trailers or other vehicles. She takes rabbits, deer, birds, coyotes, and other wildlife with a grain of salt. If you can hold the reins, you can ride her. She will hack out alone or in a group and will gladly take the lead, ride in the middle, or follow behind. She doesn’t go in a frenzy if she is asked to fall behind or leave the group. Additionally, River has three nice gaits. Although walking is her favorite of them all, she has a lovely trot and canter without too much ask.
River drives just as quietly as she rides. She is easy to harness and one person can hook her. She will stand at stop lights and signs and walk on when asked. She is fine with umbrellas, air horns, tarp, bags and many other “scary” objects.
