Big Mac
Mac is a BIG gorgeous 14 year old buttermilk buckskin QH/Percheron cross gelding, standing at 17 hh. Mac is a sweetheart gelding that looks for attention, is easy to be around, and likes to just get along. Mac is a horse that you can pull out, saddle, and go for a ride. He has good ground manners, stands tied quietly, stands for mounting with block/trailer/log (whatever is available), is easy to handle, and has a Natural Horsemanship foundation.... (read more) He is good with tarps, flags, bags, hand someone their coat/vest/water bottle while on him, and is just hanging out waiting for the party. Mac has been used on the ranch to “punch” cows, check fence lines, load trucks, etc and has been a trail guides lead horse for camping and hunting trips in the high country. He is sure-footed, moves out nicely, can lead or follow other horses, is good with other horses, and can pony another horse from him. Mac is an experienced trail horse alone or in a group. He has been on many camping trips and has even been fished off of in the river! He high-lines, hobbles, and eats/drinks on the road. In the arena, Mac has a nice soft trot, canter, and a great stop. He can ride English and Western and goes over small jumps. He moves off of leg, neck reins, open/close gate, side pass, haunch turns, laterals, rides in a snaffle to a bridle- depending on what you are doing and the level of the rider, and overall, is a good boy. He is suitable for any level, but would be best suited for a confident advanced beginner and up. We have put kids and beginners on him and he does great with an instructor in that situation. Mac would make an ideal trail horse for someone who enjoys moving out and tackling technical and advanced obstacles, but he would be happy to just take someone around the flatlands too. He would also be a great lesson horse for someone’s barn and/or for Mounted Patrol. Mac is utd on shots, worming, and feet. He wears a size 4 shoe and is barefoot in the back. He can go barefoot, but not in the rocks. He loads/unloads and hauls great. He loves getting baths and being groomed and is safe for the kids to be around to “help”. He is also good around tractors, quads, dogs, other horses. He is not aggressive or mean. If you are looking for that big boy to take you where you want to go- look no further than this big sweetheart - BIG MAC.
