Additional Comments
She was supposed to be a 1 year project horse but Ive kept her much longer because I have gone back and forth with keeping her for myself. She doesn’t have a lazy bone in her body and will try all day long. I have put tons of buttons on her. She yields haunches, shoulders, side passes, backs off leg, and has an amazing stop both under saddle and on the ground. Schooling lead changes but they aren’t 100% finished yet. If you are into groundwork she is very advanced on line and at liberty (Even in the pasture).... (read more) W/t/c/woah, backs, turns into you, yields all the things and is light as a feather in your hand. She loves to jump and has never once refused a single thing since the first time she saw a crossrail (I have videos of her first time).
This is not a beginner horse. She has more go than woah and she is watchy. She is a soft and sensitive girl who does best with one patient rider and I’ll be picky where she goes- I’m in no rush at all and will continue putting solid miles on her.
The good:
-Has been off property for solo trail rides, obstacle clinics, local shows, team penning clinics, etc.
-rides alone or in a group, ponies horses (amazing help with my colt, doesn’t get upset with his funny business)
-crosses water, rides on the road, open fields, trails, opens gates
-Loads and will stand at the trailer all day
-Been around livestock and dogs
-Will lead off a gator/truck
-Easy to catch, bathe, groom (will stand forever to be groomed). Total sweetheart and never pushy.
-Can blanket/fly mask/fly spray easily out in the field
-Stands for the farrier like a dream. (I have front shoes on her for trail riding but she went barefoot before)
-Up to date on coggins, vaccines, teeth, etc. never had any health issues from her or any trouble keeping weight on her
Downfall:
-she is not mareish at all when it comes to people as mentioned, but can be with other horses. Totally the type to pin her ears and squeal and lets the boys know when she is in season. That said, I have had her in with geldings that don’t pay any attention to her and then she is totally fine. She has lived inside, outside, in large groups, small groups, alone, with mares, geldings, and cows. I have found her to be quietest living at home in a smaller herd/more low key setting.
-full disclosure/transparency she will not have the prettiest ppe you will ever find (She didn’t when I bought her) but she is sound without maintenance. Any and all additional vet checks are always welcomed at buyers expense.
