Additional Comments
Name: Beauty
Breed: Draft Cross
Age: Approximately 2016
Training: Halter
Special Needs: Companion Only - Cannot be ridden, driven, or used in other taxing disciplines due to hind limb disability. She is capable of living out with other horses, is able to walk/trot/canter amongst the herd, but does not have a perfect gait and does stumble periodically. We do not know the history/cause for this condition, but our veterinarian stated her issues likely started with either an injury and/or neurological issue.... (read more)
Special Needs Requirements: She requires a 6 week trim cycle which is best performed by a farrier with corrective care background to ensure angles are maintained due to uneven wear. She is currently kept barefoot, but has benefited from shoes in the past when terrain/weather/seasons lead to more rapid uneven wear. She is not currently prescribed any medication or treatment, and is able to live out with other horses.
Beauty is a happy horse, who loves living out with other horses, and being spoiled by her humans. She is very friendly, comes when calls, and loves to spend time being talked to, petted, and groomed. Although her disability effects her movement, and requires an understanding home our veterinarian does not believe that there is any reason why Beauty cannot live a full and meaningful life as a COMPANION or PET.
Beauty will only be adopted to a home capable of understanding and caring for a horse with a disability who also has access to a farrier capable of performing the hoof maintenance she requires, and a veterinarian who can manage any future care she may need.
If you believe that you may be Beauty's special person/family please call the Stargazey office to discuss her further.
