Please excuse the slightly disjointed nature of the following information. I had made posts on Facebook and have just copied & pasted them to make my life easier. Jacee is a sweet girl who just needs a person to love her to pieces forever. She has been bred twice. We own her second foal - he is thick-boned and level-headed. She is a sensible horse and would never do anything to hurt you deliberately.... (read more) Videos available. She could very easily be taught to do just about anything at all - she is super teachable and wants to learn and please. Really a wonderful horse, we just don't connect with her and would like to find her special person.
I have checked a lot of boxes for her disciplines. She can, in my opinion, do all of these things. Though she will need training to do many of them. She has been trail-ridden many times by previous owners - My understanding is that she has gone alone, in groups, with one rider and carrying two young boys double! She has lovely gaits that would do well in Halter classes, low-level Hunters, and Equitation. She is so quick to learn and has no physical limitations!
We saddled her up, she did great. She was a little girthy at first so someone who has the compassion to take a minute(literally) to tighten the girth up all the way is ideal. She only made faces at me.
We trotted her out on the lawn, which she'd never done before. The geldings and mini horses went insane but Jacee mostly kept her cool. Unfortunately due to user error, we don't have that nonsense on video. She put her tail straight up a couple of times but never did anything an experienced horseman couldn't handle. No need to get rough with her either, just remind her that you're there. With some redirection, she would probably have completely ignored everyone else.
That said, she isn't a beginner horse today. She could be turned into one if she was in regular work. She needs a refresher - I did not get on her, I didn't want to blow her mind too much in one day and I'll be perfectly honest and say I was just too tired. She's got a lovely floaty trot and is willing to move forward easily in hand, no lunge whips needed. She responds beautifully to Ryan Rose's techniques. Check him out if you haven't already.
>>>> We will be cautious of her home - we had leased her out once and she was neglected. It took going through the court system to get her back even though we had a very clear contract! We want what's best for her (that isn't at our farm right now!) She deserves her own person, as every horse does.
****If you're not willing to provide vet references or farrier references and tell me where she will be housed you will not be considered. We're going to check all the boxes this time.
While pregnant she had heaves but has not seemed to have any episodes since - she was fed on round bales dropped in the field before we purchased her. She is the type of horse to just leave her face in the bale while eating so she inhales everything. Since having her foal, weaning, and then being leased out and coming home she has had no episodes.
She's a decent dam... definitely not a helicopter mom and honestly might even be a bit too aloof IMHO. But her foal survived and thrived with no help from us - he did need stitches a couple of times but only because he was being a dumb baby boy.
