Four White Legs
"Socks"
Socks is a 16.2 hand, 10 year old chestnut OTTB. She was race trained but never raced and was retired to be a broodmare.
She has tons of chrome and can technically be registered as a pinto/paint as she has high white on her legs and a spot on her belly.
She is currently being used in advanced beginner lessons and tolerates mistakes from riders well. She will need a rider that has balance and leg for canter as she is still quite unbalanced and slow, especially to the right.... (read more) She is more of a push ride but does respect the leg and will move into all gaits without a ton of leg.
She was used as a broodmare once she was done with race training, I'm assuming because she's so slow, and wasn't rebroke for riding until she came here. She's been back under saddle for 5 months and takes everything in stride.
This is the sweetest horse I've ever met and would love to cuddle with anyone that let's her. This does not mean she is pushy, she very much respects your space and waits for you to go to her.
She stands for the farrier, tied, for a bath and to be groomed. She's up to date on all shots, wormer, dentist and farrier work.
She does require 4 shoes as she has the typical tb feet. I tried boots but she got too many bruises for this to work long term and kept her from working consistently the first 2 months I had her.
She is a favorite of all my students and will be a hard one to watch leave but I need to lower my herd numbers before winter.
She would be great as a lesson horse, for dressage, trails, or possibly low jumping (she is just starting to jump now).
