Trooper was used on a cattle ranch, he has done many facets of ranch life from checking on and moving cattle from pasture to pen, sorting pairs in the feedlots, and pushing cattle onto trailers. He is a gentle gelding that is easy to handle. He will ride with or without a tie down. Trooper rides with a loose one hand neck rein, and he has a good backup, stop, and side pass. Trooper has no problem with you carrying a flag, or opening/closing gates, he is traffic safe, will walk down streams, over fallen trees, has no problem walking up/down steep ditches and ravines, he will go anywhere you point him, thru thick brush, in the woods with no spook. He is used to heavy equipment and its sounds, we have a construction company next door and he is used to all their heavy equipment (i.e. dump trucks, semis, lawnmowers, track hoes, leaf blowers, etc.).
Trooper stands still while being saddled/bridled, clipped, groomed, being sprayed for flies, picking his feet, being mounted (from the ground or a mounting block), while standing tied, for the vet/farrier, he loads and hauls very well. He is easy to catch, is super gentle, and has great ground manners. He is kid and dog friendly and gets along with all of our other horses (mares and geldings alike). He is not dominant, he is a low man on the totem pole.
He would be a great prospect for many things such as; ranch rodeo, playdays, drill team, barrels, poles, grand entry, parades, a pony horse, trail riding, trail horse competitions, ranch sorting, team penning, mounted patrol, walk-trot, lead line, or as a lesson horse.
Trooper is a good-looking red sorrel with a handsome blaze face with two hind socks, and a nice flaxen mane and tail, nice wither, straight back, with great feet. Trooper is a great size standing 15.1hh which is a great height for more riders
