Moonshine is incredible! She reportedly drives and rides beautifully for anyone, and I do mean ANYONE. We are strictly a riding stable and don't have a harness and carriage to drive her, but if that's how you'd like to use her, you're welcome to bring your own to hitch her and try her out. She can carry riders up to 350 lbs and safely allows children ages 6 and up to ride her on their own. She's 10 years old and has a nice topline to match.... (read more) She's spent the whole summer taking kids out trail riding at our summer camp and people of all ages year-round. As you can see from the videos, her ground manners are impeccable, she stands still for mounting and dismounting, and she's easy to bridle and saddle.
We've owned her for more than a year, and we're making her available to go to a private home. You'll never have a problem catching her; she comes to you in the pasture. She's affectionate and loves grooming and attention. The whole family can enjoy this horse from Grandma to the wee little ones who are so young they can ride double with Mom or Dad. She can carry a 21 inch saddle and it won't look big on her nor will it go past her hip. Or you can add a buddy seat onto the back of your saddle, and your kids can have a nice, cushy seat. Her butt's so wide, she can make anyone look small, so you'll never have to ask your friends, "Does this horse make my butt look big?" She loads and unloads in a matter of seconds, so you'll have no trouble taking her home with you... or anywhere else you want to take her to ride offsite. Visit our website to see a video of her loading and unloading quietly in just 28 seconds! You may want to schedule a time to come see her before she gets gone.
People always ask why we're selling our horses. There's nothing wrong with them. Quite the contrary. They're for sale because it's part of our business model: we buy, train, put lots of trail hours on them, and make them safe for beginners, and eventually we sell them at a profit to compensate us for all the training and trail hours we have put on them. We don't have to speculate as to what age or riding level a rider needs to be at in order to ride them. We KNOW because they've done it many times over. If we say a 6 year-old child with no riding experience can ride the horse, then they can - and have. And if we say we wouldn't put anyone younger than an inexperienced 10 year-old, then you shouldn't consider the horse for your 5 year-old to ride on their own. All our horses sell as sound with no vices. Many of our horses for sale are listed on DBF's Equine Now Farm Directory page, but to see all of our horses for sale, schedule time to come see them at Dead Broke Farm. Prices listed are firm.

For anyone buying their first horse, we also sell new and used saddles, bridles, saddle pads, as well as new winter blankets, halters, lead ropes, and horn bags. The big advantage to buying these items when you buy the horse is that we will fit everything for you, so it takes the guess work out of sizing and fitting of saddles, bridles, and winter blankets. Then you can feel confident that the horse will perform the same at home as it did at our farm.
