Peanuts Perfection - 16h 8yo TB gelding by Majestic Perfection.
Peanuts is coming along nicely on the flat. I realized I really haven't made a flat work video of him since his first ride with me almost 2 months ago so I thought we'd do one this morning. I think Peanut makes a beautiful uphill shape that comes very naturally. He's gained fitness and topline as he's filled out from coming off the track. His weaker side is to the right and we've been working hard on moving off that leg and wrapping around that right leg/getting the true bend.... (read more) I was very happy with his right canter work today. He never went to lean on the right shoulder which is such a huge improvement from where he's been. My videographer was napping on the job apparently lol he missed the transition, which is another thing we've been working on. I've found he gets the right lead nicely from the walk. I'm careful not to over ask. If he gets it once I don't ask again. Sometimes I ask a few times and if he doesn't get it I just move on and get the lead over a pole/small jump. I don't find it helpful to drill them on it. It comes with strength, straightness and patience. Actually he cracked me up today because the first time ever I asked for the left canter he picked up the right! Crazy as it might sound, that's progress. Change is progress. Peanuts is a workerbee type. He knows and appreciates having a job. I'm riding him a few times a week (2-4x) and he's the same ride every time out. He's got miles going on a few xc schools with me and has been in a consistent program for about 8 weeks. He is well restarted and very safe/consistent.
His knee scrape is old now and almost completely healed up. I'm thrilled with how good it looks. I'm open to offers on Peanuts. He deserves his own personal human to dote on him and continue bringing him along. He has no vices or injuries (a scrape on the knee is insignificant).
