Treasure is a 5 year old liver chestnut shetland mare with a 3 month old stud colt at her side. The colt, who has been named Pirate, looks to be shedding out to be liver chestnut like his mother. His father was a miniature palomino stud.
I purchased Treasure pregnant as a project pony and she has come along very far in her training. It was once almost impossible to touch her, but now she is so much more comfortable around people. She has always been a curious pony and has been improving on her confidence.... (read more) She is one that tries her best to do what is asked and is therefore very sensitive and reacts to small cues. Treasure tries so hard that she almost seems to panic a bit when she gets a cue wrong with how she will quickly try a bunch of things she already knows. Even though Treasure is quite quick and reactive to any cue, she is truly a gentle and calm pony. She doesn't ever have major blow ups or a bad attitude about training. She falls asleep when being groomed, is trained to take treats respectfully, and has never had an issue with crowding anyone's personal space.
I am selling Treasure as green broke at cart driving, but she has a solid foundation of knowledge. Because of hours of training, she is exceptional at groundwork. When being lead around, she matches your pace, never running up ahead of you. She immediatly stops if you stop and has a good backup. She stands for the farrier and does a decent job at being ground tied. She is quite soft and responds to any pull on her lead rope, can easily be cued to pivot any end, and even sidepasses. Treasure has done a lot of ground driving and can easily make proper tight turns. She never had an issue when being introduced to pulling around a tire and has been handling being introduced to a cart well. She has been hooked up and pulled a cart around a few times with no problem, but I have been taking her training slow to avoid any issues.
Pirate is a lively and healthy colt with a lot of spunk! Along with his big white blaze, he has socks on both back legs and specks of blue in both eyes, with his left being more prominent. He has been around people since birth and therefore loves them! He loves to greet people with a neigh or a nicker and will always come up to you. Pirate is halter broke and also picks up all his feet. Because he has been alongside his mother during her training, he has been getting a lot of great experience! He is very curious and brave and can handle venturing off a ways without his mother.
These two ponies both have solid foundations for where they are at in training. They are both absolutely wonderful ponies and I will miss having them on my farm! I will continue working with them until their new owner picks them up and will also get coggins tests and health certificates done if necessary. I also have many more photos available!
