Elly is an appaloosa miniature mare, who is registered with AMHA & AMHR. She is looking for her forever home as I am retiring her as a brood mare. She has been a wonderful mother over the years to all of her foals, but it is time for her senior stage of life where she can just chill and graze her day away. :-)
Elly was born 3/16/2004 and is around 28 inches tall. She has a quiet and calm personality. She is the most docile mare of my herd and is quite content to be off on her own grazing where ever.... (read more) If these were wild horses she would have been picked off years ago as she enjoys just going off and doing her own thing away from the herd. LOL :-P Since she doesn't mind being by herself for periods of time, we use her as a handy grazer for rotating in smaller fenced in areas.
Now, Elly has two special conditions that she will need for her new home to be a happy horsy in. First, she will need to have a home where she can graze as much of the year as possible as that has been the only way she seems to keep any weight on. Elly is one of those horses that if there is 1/2 inch tall grass, she will eat that before she goes to the hay. She is also fine with goats as I had her in with several Boar nannies and kids this spring for a couple of months and she was content to just ignore them and graze. So, if you just have a dry lot, she isn't going to do well with that long term.
Also, the second special thing that she will need is dental work on almost a yearly basis. We used to just need to do her teeth every two to three years, but as she is getting older, it is more frequent now. When her teeth start bothering her, she will start eating a lot less and then lose weight if they are not done quickly within a week timeframe...it is not something you can just ignore, so please keep that in mind. I will give you the contact info for the people who we get to do her now.
Other than that, she is an easy keeper. Lots of grass and available hay if she wants it and she's a happy girl. :-)
My accepted forms of payment are cash, PayPal (friends and family only) or USPS money order. I do not take any form of checks and will not sell a horse without you willing to come to see him first...so please do not bother asking as this is will be my answer (especially to those horse dealers and scammers out there). Let me know if you are have any questions or would like to come see her. Thank you for looking!
Rock Mist Minis
I got my first mini colt back in 1999 and then a couple of mares a year or two later and pretty much the rest is history. My herd now includes a variety of solids (including bays, palominos, greys, cremello, chestnuts, etc), pintos, appaloosas and pintaloosas. Typically I will have a least a couple of new colts and the occasional filly for sale every year.
