Gus is a newly 13 year old buckskin Tennessee Walking horse gelding looking for his forever home. He enjoys trail riding alone or with friends in mountains or more cityfied environments. He shares the trails with hikers, bikers, runners, baby buggies, walkers, dogs, other horses, and the occasional motorized vehicle. Gus will go where you point him over streams, rocks, logs, bridges, and up and down steep hills. Surefootedness is an asset for Gus.... (read more) He has logged strenuous miles in the mountains and is a happy camper overnighting in mountain horse camps. In groups Gus is happy to be behind, front, or in the middle as he goes at an easy gait down the trail.
Gus is eager to please and he wants an owner who desirous of a loving and bonded relationship. Being kind, intelligent and a fast learner are among Gus’s best traits. He will “join up” with his person and perform well in beginning natural horsemen ship skills like ground tying, coming to a flag, and stopping when his person stops.
Gus is a very healthy horse with excellent confirmation and strong, black hooves, not to mention beauty to spare. He is up to date with his vaccines, worming, dental work and sheath cleaning. Medical records from the past 3 years can be obtained upon request. When worked with by vets or shoers, Gus is very appreciated for his good behavior. He bathes, clips, stand for mounting, and trailers calmly. Easy keeper who would love to enjoy a grassy pasture in his next home. He won’t poop or pee in his stall if he can access outdoors at will and if that outside
area is cleaned daily.
Gus would like his person to have knowledge and understanding of equine behavior and needs, as well as proficient riding skills.
The only reason that Gus is being rehomed is that his current owner is no longer able to ride due to aging and health issues.
We breed Rocky Mountain horses for temperament as well as beauty. This American bred animal is easy going, gentle, and very people friendly. Our horses make great family additions.
