At The Edge is an unraced 15.2 3yo TB gelding by Added Edge.
Edge is an extremely well put together growing baby. He sticks a little over 15.2 right now and I would suspect will finish around 16h. I love the neck and shoulder on him. At the end of his first ride today he really started to figure out the stretch and wow does he give a great feel (not to mention a pretty picture). He was so good today. He figured out the contact and was just generally so willing to answer all my questions.... (read more) He has a super balanced even canter both ways. He's pleasantly in the middle between whoa and go. Maybe slightly more towards the squeeze along side of things. He was also super at the mounting block.
Edge didn't race but he was in training and came right from the track. He was slow and his trainer had other horses coming in behind him. He's got nice feet and clean straight legs. He was excellent for the farrier and his first hot shoe. Edge has a little skin funk on his back, unfortunately right under the saddle area. I'm treating it with medicated shampoo & lotion and it's quickly healing. He is very well behaved on crossties, for clippers, mane pulling, bathing and all the other things. He has a very kind calm disposition and is a total sweetheart.

Edge is going to be a tough sell for all the wrong reasons. He's a smaller chestnut without any chrome. Most won't give him a moments consideration but it's really their loss because he is so kind, safe and appropriate for what the average ammy needs. Edge has his fourth ride yesterday and I introduced him to the concept of going over things lol I like to do a ground poles day which might lead up to a small x if things are going well (which they did!) to solely introduce the concept of getting to the other side in a calm confident manner. This doesn't always make for the best sales video because the horse just needs to go over under or through. They're too green to worry about form or distances, they just need to get the concept of keeping their feet moving until they make it to the other side of whatever it is. At this stage we are just looking for willingness to learn and their problem solving skills. Edge was easy. He took right to it without any fuss and then figured out the idea of landing in a nice balanced canter. He was super brave and ended with total confidence that he was the boss at jumping piles of poles :) The next time he jumps he can do a little more but honestly, he's a baby, he doesn't need to do much more then this kind of stuff for a while. He is really figuring out his flat work as well. He makes such a pretty shape. He might be smaller but it's a gorgeous package. I'm 5'9", for reference, and I love riding him. He has a nice barrel that take up my leg.

Edge is such a trier. He's just a baby 3yo but he jumps everything I point him at with no fuss. He's getting ready to do a little xc school on Saturday so we got some video of him popping around over the things in my ring. He has such a nice tick tocky canter. He was really cute cantering some poles and x's. I'm a firm believer that they need to be handy and confident jumping out of the trot but that doesn't mean you can't also introduce cantering some at the same time, especially when cantering helps them process the shape they're supposed to make. Edge really took to quietly cantering a few jumps and I always appreciate that in a green/young horse. It means things are translating and dots are connecting in that baby brain lol He also hinted at the fact that he's got some real scope in there when we made the oxer a bit bigger at the end. Edge is a good ammy prospect for someone because he's more of a squeeze and cluck along ride. He's not the spooky type and has been especially brave.
In the barn Edge has totally figured out the whole crosstie thing. He stands quietly for grooming, tacking, bathing and everything else. He's been fully transitioned to large grass field turnout with another gelding and basically thinks he's in heaven out there. He's the cutest thing. I've got him with Prince who's not interested in playing around too much so Edge will literally just hop circles in a perfectly balanced canter around Prince trying to get him to join in. I know he's small but solid- really thick and nice big matching feet. I feel perfectly comfortable on him (I'm 5'9"). He has a great neck set on and make a gorgeous shape. There's nothing not to like about him. He's priced extremely reasonably.
