Gio Lucky is an 8yo 16h TB gelding by Gio Ponti.
Gio has been off the track for several years now and has plenty of miles with his previous owner. I did his first ride here yesterday and he is real upper level type. Super uphill and sporty. He makes a fantastic shape and has so much power and movement. This is a horse who is going to jump a big jump. I can't truly show off the trot yet because he needs to understand a few basics like moving off the leg and a half halt first but when he gets it, it's going to be pretty darn special.... (read more) I'm sure that he will make huge progress in his next few rides. He is smart, willing and wants to do the job. Gio will work best in a program with a rider who has goals. I'm looking forward to putting more rides on him and getting him going over fences soon. I know this is going to be a fun one on xc.
I meant to stick him yesterday and forgot. He is somewhere between 16-16.1h and in great shape. I'm 5'9" in the video for reference. Gio has nice feet and clean legs. His previous owner kindly sent me the films she took when she vetted him and I'd be happy to share them with seriously interested buyers. He has no injuries or vices. He's settling in well.

Gio is an athlete. He oozes scope and the type of attitude that makes a horse want to jump a big jump. He's been here for about 2 weeks now and I've gotten a chance to play around with him and find his areas of needs improvement :) Gio absolutely climbs uphill in his movement. He has an incredible ability to sit down behind and push up through his back and out the shoulders. I'm just scratching at the surface of what he's capable of, there is so much more in there. He goes out his right shoulder and that's really what I'm working on with him. He's going to get more lateral, especially off the right side. That will take his flat work to the next level and get his jumping up to par. I was just playing around with him at the end of the video when we pop around over those jumps. They are way too small for him. The size of the fence is pretty irrelevant for him. He is a bold jumper but before we can go cruising around over bigger stuff I want him straight (and off my right leg). I see a lot of leg yielding in Gio's immediate future lol
Gio is a horse for someone who wants to go do stuff. He's super game and wants a job. He has zero unwanted behavior, no injuries, clean legs and no vices.
