Super smooth pleasure gait, low footfall, low brio, and is a fun little trail horse, for the right person(s). He is 13.3 hands tall and slim built. I would put his maximum weight at 160 lbs with gear. I know people say they can carry more than you think, but if you want to put someone big on him and make him back sore, please look elsewhere.... (read more) He is a total sweetheart and loves loves attention.
First to meet you at the gate. He is very smart and willing to learn but sensitive. If you are familiar with Pasos this should be understandable. He needs his own person or a couple consistent people. At least until he has more miles. He is trained to ride and is willing, he just needs to be ridden more consistently for a bit and get off our property. He hasn’t been anywhere but here for over a year. He is nervous with new people until he trusts you. If you aren’t willing to let him get to know you, he isn’t right fit you. If you are overly assertive or aggressive when correcting him he will overreact. If you are kind but firm, he will learn to trust and be your best bud. He is not a dead quiet, bomb proof saint that isn’t going to react to anything. If you are looking for a bombproof kid horse he is not your man. But he isn’t stupid or difficult either. His spook is generally tucking his butt and scooting forward a couple steps, or parking out and looking. He doesn’t go up in the air or buck. He typically settles right back down. He will go out on trails, cross water, and follow or lead… but he needs more miles with a consistent person he trusts. He was ridden in our local mountains before we got him (Uwharrie/Denton area of NC). He has been ridden in a hackamore and bitless and has never been shod to our knowledge. He's a fun ride and for someone looking for a fun little trail horse that is comfortable, and a confident enough rider to help him feel at ease, he’d be a great partner. He prefers the trail and "going somewhere" to the arena. He seems to get bored with going "round and round".
We are selling because he is not the right fit for our therapeutic program. We have different volunteers all the time and different riders each day, this does not suit his personality or build his trust. He is a one person/family horse. Someone with experience.
Salisbury NC Must come see in person
