"Willy" is as solid a colt as you could hope to find. He's got a pretty little head, but he has the size and bone to work all day. He is a real head turner and he will be turning grey as he ages.... (read more) Willy's bloodlines are foundation Quarter Horse lines. His sire came from the Fisher Ranch in Oklahoma who is well known for breeding foundation Quarter Horses. His dams lines follow suit with the foundation ranch lines with greats such as Jesse Tivio and Beckwith Dun. The foundation Quarter Horses have made history making incredible ranch, working cow, reining, roping and performance horses. If you're looking for the breeding that made the American Quarter Horse what it is today, this guy's got it. Several of his full and half siblings have made excellent barrel and rope horses as well.
.
I have owned Willy since he was a weanling. He has his spring shots, current Coggins, been on a good deworming protocol, farrier trims every 8 weeks, teeth floated in Feb 2023 and was gelded in Nov 2022. I don't like to turn my young stock into overly friendly and pushy animals. So Willy was kicked out on pasture for the summer last year and then brought home and has been stalled daily at night since then. Willy stands well for the vet and farrier. Hops right in the trailer and stands tied. He tends to be pretty easy going and isn't overly spooky or reactive on the ground. As you can see in the pictures, his only flaw is his front legs toe out a bit, the right slightly more than the left. A good farrier can even this out with good shoes and shouldn't affect his performance or athletic ability at all.
.
Willy has been at the colt starters for just about 45 days. He has had no buck or rear, no awful run off moments. He will move off your leg, walk, trot, lope willingly and is starting to get soft in the bridle. He's been ridden in and out of the round pen, inside, outside and on some trails. He is still very green so he will need someone with some experience with a colt to finish him out. With some patience and consistent every day riding he should continue to be a really solid colt!
.
If you're looking for your next rope, ranch, working cow or all around performance prospect... look no further. Willy is going to make someone a real solid nice horse. Buy him up now, ride him for a while and bring him to one of those exclusive ranch gelding sales and make a killing on him. Or, just keep him and use him for whatever you please.
