Due to the overwhelming interest in Honey, we are pausing our responses to questions about her until this weekend (4/11/23). We have a number of people with appointments to see her this week. If they pass or are not a good fit, we will respond to messages in the order we've received them. Thank you so much for your support and interest in helping us find Honey a great home!
Looking for a sweet and gentle equine companion to add to your home?... (read more) Look no further than our beautiful Belgian Draft horse, Honey!
This gorgeous, gentle mare is looking for a loving home where she can live in peace and comfort. She's a true gem, with a kind and gentle nature that will win your heart the moment you meet her.
Specifics:
-Belgian Draft
-Approximately 20 years old
-17.1 Hands
-Up to date on vaccines, dewormer, and Coggins.
-Location: Hazel Green, AL
She ties, rides, leads, and loads perfectly, although she is older and she doesn't like to go too far or very fast. :) She would be great for a rider who likes to putter around for a little while or maybe even a therapy riding program. She is very responsive to pressure, and we've ridden her out in the pasture with nothing but a halter and lead rope multiple times.
She was an amish work horse all her life until she ended up in a kill pen, where we rescued her last summer. It has taken a while to get her up to a good weight, but we feel confident that she is ready to go to her forever home now.
The only thing she needs continued work on is her feet since she has some leftover separation from when we rescued her. Keeping them clean and having a good farrier will solve that in a few months time. She does not always stand quietly for the farrier, so if you have one that's comfortable with drafts that would be a plus.
We would love for her to go to a home where she gets tons of love and attention and all the grass she could imagine. Preferably a farm with a minimum of 10 acres of grass to graze on. We also prefer her to go to a home where she can have some pasture friends, not necessarily another horse but another little animal friend to keep her company.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to give this amazing horse the happy home she deserves!
We are a horse rescue, and we are only rehoming her to make room on our farm for other horses who need TLC to find a good home, too.
Note: As part of our sale procedure, we ask for a vet reference to help us feel confident the horses go to a good home.
