Red Man, the sweetest boy you will ever meet, is a gorgeous sorrel tobiano Missouri Fox Trotter gelding with excellent conformation, kind soft eyes and a beautiful, refined head and ear. Red Man is 6 years old, stands a perfect 15.1 hands tall with a stout build and a heart of gold! Red Man is the true definition of sweet, patient, and gentle. His calm, quiet, and respectful disposition on the ground and in the saddle make him a pleasure to have around.... (read more) The more you get to know him, the more you see his quiet personality start to show. He loves his treats, neck scratches and will nuzzle his nose on yours as long as you’ll let him.
Red Man has completed our program from start to finish and has excelled in every aspect of his training. From basic groundwork to extreme trail riding, bird hunting, BRIDLELESS, mounted shooting, laying down on command and so much more, Red Man is ready for anything!
Red Man is as experienced as it gets when it comes to trail riding and bird hunting. He has traveled all over the United States and has personally taken care of me in the rough terrain of the Wyoming and Colorado Rocky Mountains including the Zirkel Wilderness (12,000ft+ above sea level). You never have to worry about Red Man on the trail. He will willingly go wherever you point him. He is careful, steady, sure footed, and confidently while taking his time maneuvering through tough trails. Red Man gets along anywhere on the trail. He will lead the group or happily lag behind in the back. You can be confident taking Red Man out riding alone or with large groups of horses as he has tons of experience with both. If you need to leave the group, don’t worry, Red Man will leave and come back with no fuss. He crosses water, mud, down timber, and bridges without hesitation. He is great with children, traffic, machinery, chainsaws, bullwhips, flags, wagons, opening/closing gates, roping, dragging, all types of wildlife, and ponying other horses. Red Man has extensive experience bird hunting and is absolutely exceptional with gunfire! He will ground tie while you flush birds while never leaving you. He is great with dogs and does not care if they get under him or jump on him. Red Man is so good with gunfire, he can do mounted shooting competitions and you can shoot fireworks off his back! We have even played around on him shooting some skeet with a shotgun. He is literally, bombproof! There is absolutely no spook or meanness to Red Man.
Red Man learned the basics correctly. From lunging and facing you, flexing, moving off your legs, picking up his shoulders to yielding his hindquarters, he will do it all softly and easily. Red Man has lots of feel on the ground and in the saddle. He is so soft and supple, he can be ridden with a simple O-ring snaffle or completely bridleless, with or without a neck rope! That’s right, completely bridleless! He will simply respond to your seat, hands, and legs alone. He will stop when you say woah and place your legs out in front of you, back up with a gentle motion of your legs, and turn with the slightest pressure on the side of his neck. You can even ride him bareback and bridleless at the same time!
Red Man will stand perfectly still for mounting every time and will side pass up to the mounting block with the snap of your fingers to make it easier for you. He neck reins perfectly one handed, side passes, and backs easily. Red Man has a lope to die for and will lope both leads on cue with a smooth transition. He is so close to do flying lead changes! Red Man rides easily on a loose rein at a walk, gait, or lope. He has a beautiful way of going with a smooth gait that is easy to ride all day long. Red Man is exceptionally quiet in the barn and easy to catch anywhere in the pasture. He will stand tied all day long and will never paw. He will follow you out of the stall and stand for saddling without ever putting a halter on him. He drops his head with slight pressure on his poll and takes the bridle gently. He is wonderful for the farrier and enjoys bathing and grooming. He loads without hesitation in the trailer and will back out calmly. Red Man also gets along great with other horses.
Red Man is exceptionally soft, and all his cues are easy. He has been ridden by children, men, and women of all ages and adapts quickly to his rider. I cannot stress how patient and quiet minded Red Man is all the time! He is trusting and has the kindest heart, always wanting to please his rider. He is a real sweetheart and loves a soft touch.
