Additional Comments
LQH Brownwood Saber aka Raya is a a three year old registered AQHA mare. We started working with her this last fall; she has been throughly trained in ground work and has been ridden under saddle in the arena as well as on our 200 acre ranch in Colorado. She has worked around the wild life that inhibits our ranch as well as our livestock (cattle, alpacas, goats, and even our donkey). We have thoroughly enjoyed working with her and it has been a pleasure to watch her progress through our program.... (read more) So why are we selling her?
At our company, American Horse Company, we specialize in taking a horse that either doesn’t have a foundation (colts and fillies), or horses that have holes in their foundation such as rearers, buckers, bolters, etc. We put them through our intensive six week training program so they have a solid foundation on them and then find them the perfect home. All of the horses that complete our training program start at about $15K and go up from there (Check out our website for some examples of our previous graduates). Not every horse we buy can handle this intensive and very short training program. Raya falls into this category. She needs a program that is a little slower paced and not so intensive.
Before we pulled her out of our training program, she had made it about half way. She was proficient at the following exercises under saddle:
-One Rein Stops at the Walk, Trot, and Canter
-Disengage Hindquarters from a Standstill
-Disengage Hindquarters while in motion at the walk, trot, and canter
-Walk, trot, and canter on a loose rein in an arena and pastures/trail
-Softening at the Walk
-Softening in Motion
Raya stands quietly for the farrier, has never bucked under saddle, and has a heart of gold. Once we realized that our training program wasn’t the right fit for her, we put her in one of our pastures.
We are selling Raya as a filly and recommend any potential buyer to put her into a slower paced training program. We are selling her at the extremely discounted price we are because it is important for us to find her not only a good home but a great partnership that she deserves and that can help bring out her fullest potential.
