“Buck” is a 6 year old Haflinger gelding standing 15 hands high even. Buck is a gentle soul with so much to offer. He is one of the most gorgeous haflingers I have ever seen. This boy is as cute as they come and loves attention!
In the barn, this beautiful boy knows his manners. He will stand in cross ties or tied to a trailer all day, he stands great for the farrier and of course stands to be groomed and pampered, he also stands to be tacked.... (read more) Under saddle, He doesn’t always stand perfectly still for mounting, it is something we are working on and he is improving each time.
Buck picks up all three gaits easily off of leg and comes back down to a walk with ease. He is easy on his feet making him a very comfortable ride. This boy can be ridden regularly or left to sit and he is always the same horse.
Buck will hack out along or in a group and will lead or follow down the trails. He doesn’t mind a horse riding closely behind or beside him, he has no nasty behavior towards other horses. Buck has crossed streams, ditches, mud, hills, rocks, and doesn’t mind making his own trail if need be. This boy is not spooky but he is aware of his surroundings and he knows what’s going on around him.
Buck has potential to be a wonderful kids horse, but right now a confident and experienced beginner with a trainer or an intermediate rider is best for him. This boy is not a deadhead he will happily pick up the pace when you ask him to. He has popped over logs, ditches, and other obstacles with ease. Buck has been ridden English, western and bareback. He looks and rides phenomenal regardless of the tack that you decide to use or lack thereof.
Under harness, Buck is broke to drive single and in teams. He stands to be harnessed and is simple to hook up. Buck does watch big trucks out on the road, he would benefit from consistency from an experienced driver if you wanted a great single driving horse. In teams, Buck is more confident.
