Kelpie is a 17 year old (aged by our equine dentist) bay grade mare. We believe she is likely an Appaloosa cross, but she sells as grade. She is a stout horse, standing a little over 14.3hh, and is around 1,200 lbs. Kelpie is an easy keeper, polite in herds, and does well with mares or geldings.

She's on 24/7 pasture with full time access to hay. We currently have her on alfalfa pellets and MSM for some mild arthritis in her back legs, but it doesn't really seem to bother her (lameness exam on 10/11/22).... (read more) She stands tied, stands for the farrier, loads, stands to be groomed, bathed, and saddled. No kick, buck, or rear. No bad vices, but can be a bit headshy.

We have primarily used her for trail riding, and we believe anyone who has ridden horses could ride her easily; doesn't seem bothered by vehicles, trash, cows, or dogs. She isn't fancy broke, but responds to basic commands and direct reining. Not a dead head, but not in a hurry either. W/T/L good. With more riding, she's only going to get better! Selling due to no fault of her own, just need to downsize our herd. We will keep riding her until she sells. Teeth floated 10/25/22. Wormed on 07/09/23. Current negative Coggins and vaccines. Receives regular hoofcare.
