*Adorable Alert!*
This is a 12-year-old registered Welsh Pony gelding that we totally would keep - so it will need to be a very special home to buy him off of us. His registered name is "Dancing in the Rain" - so we call him Lockwood (for all you "Singing in the Rain" fans).
He has been with us on consignment for a month, and his reminds me of a Merrylegs story. His behavior indicates a history where he perhaps started at a home that was kind and loving, and then somewhere he experienced a hard or harsh time, because he wants to trust people and loves to be with them, but it takes him just a little time to trust.... (read more) If you are new, he backs away from you at first. But as you can see from the video, once he does trust you, he will work his little heart out for you. He is sensitive so a little jumpy about new things, but if you are patient, he catches on fast and tries so very hard to be brave.
My daughter working with him in the videos is 5' 1.5" - he is 12.2 hands. From his papers we see he was at a place that did carriages, so there is a chance he is broke to drive, but we don't have a harness to try on him.
If he were purchased to be ridden, his ideal owner would need to be small enough for his frame, but patient and kind to help him gain confidence, and not intimidated by his quick gaits or jumpiness at new things.
If he were purchased to be driven, the same would hold true except for the size of the owner. He also would make a wonderful pet and trick pony for someone who is kind and gentle in their training methods. He thrives on praise!
He is UTD on coggins and vaccinations, just got his teeth floated last week, and has bar shoes on the front where he has a crack from a cut coronet band growing down his hoof. He has been seen by a vet and farrier and both indicate that shoes will allow the hoof to grow out and he is sound and stable enough to ride and work while it does.
We all love Lockwood here and think you will too.
