VT Make It a Double, or “Theo” is a 2021 registered Irish Sporthorse.... (read more) He is sired by Killian’s Irish Blend, a son of the incredible Snowford Bellman, a proven producer. His dam, Double Dutch is thoroughbred mare who has produced quality offspring in our program including VT WapsDoubleTrouble. Her impressive bloodlines include famous athletes such as A.P. Indy, Storm Cat, and Mr. Prospector. This remarkable weanling has been a part of our Equine Youngstock Training and Marketing course and has been desensitized to many novel objects and obstacles. He stands nicely for tying, picking up feet, and grooming. He has easily kept up with the older horses in the course and showcases his intelligence daily. By sale time we anticipate he will additionally lunge at the walk, stand for bathing, and load into a stock trailer. Theo is up to date on all routine health care and has no known health issues. The following paperwork will be provided in his sale portfolio: IDHSNA registration papers, health record with vaccine, deworming and farrier records for the past year, current Coggins, and a health certificate if traveling out of state lines.
Virginia Tech Equine
The Virginia Tech Campbell & Smithfield Horse Units are located on either side of route 460 between the Virginia Tech exits. These farms are integrated into a quiet corner of campus and offer many opportunities to Virginia Tech students and employees. Our Campbell Unit houses 20-30 equitation program horses that are used in equitation lessons and for our on-campus hunter and dressage teams. The Smithfield Unit is home to our research and teaching herd.... (read more) This includes our breeding program which raises AQHA and sport horse youngstock. We currently have 6 AQHA & thoroughbred broodmares with all foals, yearlings, and 2 yr olds being used for teaching equine training and marketing.
Our mission is to promote a higher understanding of the study of equine science to the students of Virginia Tech. We also strive to produce quality foals each year to raise, train and sell them to good homes.
