A VERY SPECIAL MARE LOOKING FOR VERY SPECIAL HUMANS/HOME. (If you'd like a Cream Team, we do know where a nice gelding match for her is, & can help you make arrangements.)
Will consider trades, & REASONABLE offers TO THE RIGHT HOME. She'd even love to just be someone's pet, giving kids leadline rides, being groomed & loved on. (She had a lonnnnng double mane going down to her elbows on both sides, & her tail was thick & to the ground.... (read more) Common practice is to use metal curries on the entire horse, & while it's definitely efficient, it just breaks the hair off. :/ Ask for pics of her before training so you can see what she'll look like again in the not-too-distant future. ;) )
Although she is sweet as pie, please keep in mind that she's still young & green, & NOT A NEWBIE HORSE.
Satin is a purebred daughter of the famous Million Dollar Max, looks very much like him, & is the sweetest pocket pony you've ever met. At the time we bought her as a broodmare candidate, we were told she was "visually impaired in one eye", but when she arrived, she proved to be almost completely blind. That's never really stopped her from living as a nearly normal horse, though, as she gets around pretty well after she learns her surroundings. You just have to show her where everything is, & make sure the area is free of anything she could injure herself on. (we keep her with a friend in large, oval paddock made out of corral panels, w/ hotwire strung around the inside so she can't rub them to death) She's unfortunately turned out to not be broodmare material, so we just spent a small fortune having her professionally trained to ride & drive, so she'd carry some value and be able to find a suitable, forever home.
We'll have to be extremely careful choosing her next humans however, as it's imperative they be experienced, gentle & exceedingly careful to not allow Satin to get injured &/or frightened while riding or driving, or she'll lose her trust in you, & also lose her confidence in being able to ride & drive. She puts her complete trust in her rider/driver to keep her safe, therefore you MUST be her eyes for her, & be absolutely certain you don't put her into a position where she can trip over something, fall into a hole, run into anything, etc..
As you can see, she weaves quite a bit while driving, so while she's "traffic safe" as far as not being bothered by noises or sensations of vehicles, trucks, farm equipment passing by, she probably wouldn't be safe to drive on a busy road, where keeping her from crossing the center line could be an issue. This is much less of a worry while riding, b/c you have quicker control while under saddle, than while in the cart & she's very responsive to direction.
We all believe she'd do wonderfully in a team, with an experienced & tolerant partner, but these trainers are only set up to drive single. His brother who specializes in training drafts lives right down the road however, & would be able to train her to work/drive double. We can take her there for "team training" with a signed Purchase Agreement & deposit.
