If you are looking for a versatile, quiet, safe, and talented partner, Allister is your match. He just turned 8 years old, and has been thoughtfully developed by the same owner since he was 2 years of age.
Allister is a big bodied 16.1 hands with the size and substance of a warmblood or Irish Sport Horse. His breeding is selle francais (imported dam from jumping lineage) crossed with a percheron. He is unregistered. He has the athleticism of the selle francais and the calm, reliable temperament of the percheron.... (read more)
Allister has an impressive resume that featured exposure to many sports. He has an extensive background in dressage with recent scores at second level in the 60s. He knows shoulder in, haunches in, lengthening gaits, and is schooling half pass. He has 3 nice gaits for dressage, with a ground covering walk, lovely trot, and rhythmic, balanced canter.
Allister is gifted over fences and possesses an impressive jump with plenty of scope. He tightly tucks his knees and is careful with his hind legs over a fence. He has been schooled up to 2 ft 9 in the arena and 2 ft 6 on the cross country course. He is safe and honest to the fences and easily gets his stride. He doesn't look at the jumps and is very bold, yet adjustable, on the cross country field.
Allister has plenty of trail miles both in large groups and solo. He was mannerly when partaking in a mock foxhunt, and he also enjoys hunter paces. He bravely and willingly hacks out alone and has no problem crossing water, ditches, and natural trail obstacles.
Allister has the energy and temperament to excel in a competitive program for dressage, eventing, or hunter derbies. He would thrive with someone whose talent matches his own, to continue to improve one another. He is the same horse off the property, and he seems to enjoy showing. He is not a looky/spooky type, and at shows, I can just get on and ride; no lunging and minimal prep required.
Allister is an easy keeper, and has been healthy and sound. He is not on any maintenance. He has always been barefoot and has solid, stone crushing feet. He gets along well with others in a group setting (even in a mixed herd).
Allister has impeccable ground manners and is easy to catch, lead, tie, clip (even ears!), bathe and load. He has no vices, either in the stable or under saddle.
A great match for Allister would be a skilled rider who wants to enjoy eventing or dressage and hacking out. He is only for sale to a great match for all involved.
