The sweetest, kindest soul you’ll ever meet that will melt your heart. Milton is a 17 year old dressage schoolmaster. Incredibly charming and handsome. He is the easiest horse to be around. He has a heart of gold and will take care of you. He wants to connect with his owner and this is why I do not wish for him to be a schoolhorse. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.... (read more) Not fazed by dogs, chickens, or horses galloping up to him from the pasture. He’s not reactive to noise or wind or flags flapping or blowing in the wind. He will stop and observe. If you want to ride some dressage, or Western dressage or casually hack or go on trail.. then Milton is your solid citizen. Rides in a happy mouth snaffle or can easily go in a hackamore as well. He’s forward enough to take his rider.. and lazy enough to not be too much horse or intimidating. He tolerates beginners but knows if they don’t know how to steer and will walk to me in the middle of the arena unless he feels like they are paying attention (funny, not funny) lol. Absolutely loves to be groomed and loved on! Bathes, crosses water, trailers alone or with other horses. Easy to haul .. walks right in. Is good around cars, hikers, and dogs or birds bursting out of bushes. He has good ground manners but if you give him a treat he will paw! Good with the clippers too.
No buck, no rear, no kick, no bolt. I stood around talking for 20 minutes with a friend and he did put his mouth on me .. didn’t bite but he warned me when he got impatient bc he wanted to go home and eat! But I let him know, to mind his manners! He is not a nipper though. Big bone, big feet. Solid and sound. Videos can be sent on request. The right home and owner is a must.
Milton is amazing at so many things! But he is not 100 percent perfect for the farrier. He sometimes likes to paw and be fussy.. so to make life easy breezy for everyone he does get dorm paste 30min before the farrier comes. It’s quick, easy, simple and keeps everyone safe when hammering nails in!
When Milton came to me he had horrible teeth that were neglected.. they are all fixed now... but we had to extract some teeth. Due to that, he eats soaked cubes and or pellets bc dry hay is harder for him to break down. He loves grazing in the pasture and he loves his soaked cubes and grain!
Milton is a Horse of a lifetime.. selling due to a career change and no time. But will only sell to a knowledgeable horseman.
