Macie is 21 years young. Lots of riding years still in her. Very muscular, very pretty and honestly the best mare I have ever had. I generally prefer geldings. I've owned Macie for 7 years and never had a problem with her being witchy when in heat or otherwise. She is easy going and calm with some get up and go if you want. She hasn't been ridden or lunged in 8 months and I bet I could get on her and work her and have a beautiful ride. She is barn sour rn, wants to stay with her herd and not ride off without them.... (read more) Fine in the arena though.
She gets along great with other mares and geldings. She is in the middle of the herd for pecking order. Knows her name and comes running when called. She has done numerous shows, arena work, goes english and western, trail rides, trailers great. Used to be able to do dressage but after years of not being asked to get on the bit and bend she is very rusty and stiff. Cross ties, ties anywhere, great for farrier, shots, deworming. She does not love her legs messed with. No problem cleaning her feet but she had a wound on her leg one time and I would wash it and medicate and she kept jerking her leg away and trying to pick up her foot for me. Not helpful at the time but I guess she thought that's what she was supposed to do.
Macie is best for an intermediate rider and up. She is too sensitive for beginners. She has a soft mouth so she needs a rider with gentle hands. And also it takes very little leg to move her forward.
Current negative coggins, feet routinely trimmed every 8 weeks, up to date on shots, regularly dewormed. Just had her teeth floated a month ago.
No buck, bite, or kick.
Very healthy, just that wound on her leg years ago. If she will be trail ridden I suggest shoes on the front feet. My horses are all barefoot, but she is ouchy on rocks. No vices.
I have hundreds of photos and videos.
I am selling my horses, tack, supplies and my farm will be listed next spring. It breaks my heart, but I've had several life changing events and I can't do it anymore.
