** PRICE REDUCED** this guy needs a new home & job to do.
Meet Mikey aka “Mike Creek King”.
Asking mid $,$$$ OBO
AQHA registered gelding. Nice pedigree.
He’s 20 yrs. young but DON’T pass him up d/t age!..**Keep reading!**
PRO’S: He is stout & strong! Stands 15.1-15.2 hands. Built like a tank! Was a roping horse for several years (head or heel) before becoming a barrel horse past several years.... (read more) He was my 10 yr. olds 1st consistent barrel horse. He has a long stride & big motor. Does all Playday events except we didn’t goat tie b/c he was too tall for my kiddo then!
Responds to leg pressure, neck reins, spins good tight circles, backs up, good stop & nice trot, lope. No issues with farrier, grooming, bathing, fly spray, etc. A BIG puppy dog on the ground. LOVES his belly & rump scratched. Has had regular chiro. done, teeth, feet are in great condition, currently barefoot. UTD on everything. He has won my daughter many buckles & money at jackpots, playdays & youth series rodeos. Easily 2/3D could be 1D with more assertive rider. Walks right into a trailer by himself. Easy keeper on senior performance feed, pasture or hay & we add joint supplements. Trailrides & goes through water, does well around other horses. CONS: He does like to walk fast & not be at the back when trail riding. More go than whoa! He started (balking) not wanting to go into the alleyway so we took a break, vet checked him from nose to tail & inside out (scoped for ulcers) Found that he was just sore in hind end & started injections in stifles & hocks (1-2x yr.) has had Adequain injection for soreness when he is being ridden hard & hauled regular. He knew he could get away with refusals when my daughter started running him again b/c she was not assertive with him, she would tense up & didn’t reset his habit. Nothing stupid just straight up refusing & turning around or backing. No buck or rearing. We’ve only been pleasure riding him to let him have some time away from competing. I have been working on his alley issue & doing drills to reset his mind. Best suited for an intermediate youth or at least an assertive rider. We haven’t competed on him in arena in a few months. He will back into a box, stand, swing a rope & take off quick. Slight tuning if roping again, has been taken a few times to practice heading & heeling & did well. He is not for very very beginners or small kiddo riders (under 60lbs.) ONLY because he can get on the muscle & takes off quick & strong! But he will not run away with you! My 10 yr. old ran him when she was learning to step up her skills. Ran consistent 2/3D on barrels & 21-23 sec. poles & she could have pushed him more. He has MANY MANY good, competitive years to give with minimal maintenance. Not ready to stop working yet! Hate to sell him but we bought another barrel horse & pole horse during his time off & planned to keep him as a backup but had to consider our finances & he isn’t getting ridden consistently. Not enough time while hauling & competing. I have all vet exam reports, radiographs, etc. open to any questions. Nothing to hide because he deserves a good home & still wants a job to do. Even if he’s just a pleasure/trail horse. Would NEVER know he was 20 yrs. old other than DOB on pedigree. He has been WELL taken care of! I have many more videos on request.
