I've had Chester for about 6 weeks now & due to an unhealthy bond created with my mini Jenny I need to rehome him. Chester is so sweet and so patient. With kids running around the barn, cows screaming, cats in-between his feet, he's truly not phased by anything. I bought him from Draft Horse Placement on Facebook and was told they never had any issues with him being buddy/barn sour and weren't aware of any when they acquired him.... (read more) He was Amish broke and then lived with a family that pleasure drove, did light farm work, trail rode and camped a little. I bought him to build my confidence up again, as I haven't had a horse in over 10 years. But I just don't have the time to put in to break the unforeseen buddy sour issue. I've ridden him about a half a mile away from the barn and then the issues start where he just refuses to go any further. I haven't ridden him in a group but I think he'd be absolutely fine. I've mounted him from random buckets, chairs, even the bucket of the skid steer. I really believe his entire add and that he'd be great somewhere where he can be worked more than I'm able to. I have all of his paperwork that came with him and he just had his feet done on 4/26. With their permission, I have all of the videos & pictures they sent me.
Here is his original add..
"Chester is a 15y/o, 16.3hh Percheron cross gelding. You really couldn't find a sweeter/safer boy than him. He is broke to ride & drive. We put our beginners on him with no problems! He's been great with all ages & sizes. He is dependable & safe yet really fun to ride. Under saddle he will w/t/c but is a little more whoa than go. We have ridden him every way possible, bareback in a halter, sideways, standing up, double, western & english. Chester is so laid back & easy going. Not much phases him! We've taken him in water, creeks, up steep terrain, woods, mud, over logs, ditches, rocks, bridges, past traffic, bicycles, atv's, dogs, waved flags off his back, mounted him from anything, & he's always done great! Chester is a phenomenal trail horse! He goes anywhere & everywhere, rides out alone, in a group, will lead or follow, & has been camping. He is well mannered & will stand tied for as long as we need. Also stands to mount, bathe, groom, bridle, tack/harness, hitch, lift his feet, ties, loads, & hauls. Gets along great in our mixed herd of farm critters. Chester drives single, double, & is broke to farm machinery. We enjoy taking visitors into town in the wagon with him. Those just learning to drive handle him easily! He is fine on the main roads, traffic zooming by, & doesn't mind the hustle & bustle down town. He will even respond to our voice commands! This guy is not only beautiful, gentle, & sweet, but he's also got the heart & drive to do anything!"
