Buddy is currently held until May 24th!
This is Buddy. He is somewhere right between 10-14 years old and is a gorgeous boy. In the summer time he sheds out to be a beautiful copper color and is one of the prettiest horses I've ever worked with. Buddy is currently being offered for sale due to no fault of his own. I am going to college and my grandparents are getting too old to keep up with the horses when I'm not around. They love this horse - if it wasn't for their health problems they'd never let me sell him.... (read more) Here's everything you'd ever need to know about him:
Buddy hauls like a champion. He's been taken to the fairgrounds and to the vet for his shots and has never offered us a problem in the trailer. He comes to you when he needs fly sprayed and stands like stone for it with just a lead rope around his neck. He picks up all four feet with no problems and stands quietly for the farrier without issues. He is a lower horse in the pecking order. He doesn't start fights but he won't let himself get too bullied. He's been around drafts and miniature horses with no problems but he doesn't do good with critters in the field. He'll chase off dogs, cats, or coyotes that get too close. Buddy is a bit of a hard keeper. He was a rescue a long time ago and has a hard time maintaining a perfect weight in the winter and summer. It's best to keep him on a simple grain or soaked alfalfa year-round. He also is not a mans horse. We think a man beat him in his early life as he used to be really head shy when we got him. He's no longer the least bit headshy but he doesn't come up to men like he does women. That's not to say he won't - he's just more standoffish and takes time to trust them.
Buddy is saddle broke but has be sitting for a while. When he was broke to ride he was broke slow and right. He ties really well and stood to be saddled like a champion. His trainer let his grandkids ride and mess with him and even took him through a Dairy Queen drive through for an ice cream cone. He hasn't been rode a lot because he's a gaited pacer. His movements are fast and smooth and I'm not a fan of it - so i didn't take to riding him much. I've hopped on him a couple times each summer and he never offers to bolt or cause me any issues. Due to his lack of consistent riding I'm selling him as green broke for now and his price reflects this. He'd be best suited for an intermediate rider as he does like to move. He'd make the perfect project for a teenager looking to move up to something with more speed or an older and experienced rider looking for something smooth. He's never been on a track and he's never done barrels or poles so he's not going to suddenly take off with you. For riding on harsh pavements he does typically need shoes but he's really good with them. Only time he loses a shoe is if his foot gets bogged down in the mud.
Buddy sells with just about everything we've got for him including a 16-inch saddle set, rope halter and lead, and some older boots. When I get home from college in two weeks I'll be getting him brushed out, cleaned up, and taking numerous videos of him as I start putting hours on him. His price will increase with this. No one in our family wants to see him go. We've had him since he was a young stud colt and it breaks mine and my grandparents hearts to sell him but I can't be around enough and they can't keep up with him anymore. Due to this Buddy sells with a first right of refusal contract. Price is negotiable but only to the BEST home! Feel free to contact me at 304. 377. 0725. I have stories and pictures galore of this boy and I'm happy to share them with you.
