Here is your chance to own a stunning Gypsy cross foal out of a proven broodmare!
**Please note the foal in pictures is my 2020 "keeper" filly and just an example of what this mare has produced**
Open now, but price includes being bred back to same Gypsy stallion as 2020 foal was by in April of 2021 and not relocated until confirmed in foal, with Live Foal Guarantee in place.
Gorgeous (aka "Georgie") is a stunning grade palomino Quarter Horse mare, aproximately 15 years old and 15.... (read more)3h, 1200#. She is conformationally correct, has very substantial bone, huge hindquarters and a pretty head and neck. Her golden palomino color and white mane and tail is striking! She is being sold as a broodmare ONLY, and has had one foal (the 2020 bay tobiano that is pictured). She bred easily, took on first cover, had no issues in gestation and foaled easily as well. She was an EXCELLENT mother! Based on color testing of both this mare and Gypsy stallion (Luck of the Irish) the foal can ONLY be bay or buckskin, with a 50% chance of tobiano. Any foal by this cross can be registered at gypsyhorseassociation and shown as a Gypsy cross in most Gypsy specific horse shows.
Georgie is very easy to handle on the ground, has the best ground manners of any horse I've owned, trailers no problem, will stand tied patiently all day. She is an easy-keeper for sure, does fine in a corral or on pasture. She is fine in a herd, will be middle of the pack.
Full Disclosure: she is hard to catch in a pasture setting, but not hard in a corral. She is not mean or aggressive at all, but really doesn't love attention. She has mild to moderate arthritis in her front knees, and tho appears sound in the summer, she is "off" in the winter and cold months in a cold climate. For this reason, I will give special consideration to a home for her in a warmer climate (might consider off setting the transport cost).
2004 "Luck of the Irish" is a traditional piebald, proven purebred Gypsy stallion, standing 14h and weighing 1000#, his DNA is as follows: DNA: EE, Tt, PSSM1 - n/P1 and stands at Edora's Gypsy Horses in Montrose, CO. He is mellow, personable, trainable and has produced some exceptional purebred and Gypsy cross foals. He tends to throw more to the mare's size when bred to a cross, so expect this foal to be similar in size to Georgie (15.3h).
Info on 2020 foal of this exact cross, for interests sake:
While the 2020 filly that these two produced is not for sale and is my "keeper", I believe is bears mentioning what she is like. Registered with the Gypsy Horse Association, Zumi is really a wonderful example of what crossing these two popular breeds can produce! While she looked more refined as a young foal, she has bulked up in structure considerably as she has matured and is now 13.2h at the butt as a 9 month old, with a frame that speaks to her Gypsy sire. She has substantial hair (mane and tail) and "feather" for a crossbred, and I would expect that to only increase as she ages. Her personality is fantastic; she is personable, sweet, smart and also very responsive. She has a LOVELY trot and canter, and is very balanced both in movement and conformationally.
Why am I selling?
My husband has put a limit on the number of head in my herd, and because I am choosing to keep Georgie's 2020 filly, this mare needs to find a new pasture. I am open to reasonable offers, I'm happy to have a phone conversation with truly interested parties, I can assist in lining up transportation just about anywhere in the U.S. I am also open to taking several payments until she is bred and confirmed in foal.
Thank you for reading this very long and thorough ad!
