7 year old bay OTTB mare. She is a kill pen rescue who was way underweight when we got her. She has since put on a lot of weight but could still use some. My main goal is for her to go to a GOOD HOME. I don’t want her to end up back in a kill lot. For that reason, the price is negotiable if you are willing to provide personal, veterinary and/or farrier references. I love her and would not sell her, but my husband is out of work and we cannot afford to keep her.... (read more) Current on teeth floats, shoes, coggins, and shots (all within the last three months).
She is a remarkably sweet mare with great ground manners, my four year old daughter can lead her around. She stands for the farrier, ties, and clips without issue.
She is 16.1 hands, and with a little more weight will be absolutely beautiful.
She could go any direction, though I think she would make a nice English horse due to her movement.
She ripped off her back right heel bulb (pics upon request). She has already gone through all the bad vet stuff and Now all she needs is to keep being shoed on that foot until it grows all the way back out. My vet says she will heal 100% sound. Vet checks welcome at buyers expense.
She has anhidrosis, which means she doesn’t sweat enough during the summer. This means that during the hot Texas summer she needs to be managed a little differently. We have found that a grain free diet (alfalfa pellets and coastal hay) manages it perfectly and she sweated all summer for us. This wouldn’t be an issue if she went up north, but will remain an issue if you keep her in the south.
As far as I can tell she isn’t broke past race track broke, so she will be a project for someone.
I’m really hoping I can find her a good home with an experienced horse person who can bring her around into the great horse I know she will be! I have her priced according to her issues, but can be negotiable to a good home since she is special to me.
