Eureka is currently available for re-adoption or placement. Despite seeing no signs of it here at After the Races, she’s begun cribbing at her new home which is a deal breaker for her current adopter. Despite that, she says she’s been otherwise wonderful. Nik Nik’s Castle, or “Eureka,” is a 6 year old, 16.... (read more) 2, bay mare that arrived to After the Races on Halloween from Aftercare Charles Town. She retired after 45 starts, having not been very competitive since April. She’s a very attractive horse whose photos below do not do her justice.

In addition to being eligible for the TB Makeover in Kentucky, Eureka was bred in West Virginia and is eligible for some of the bonus money from the HBPA as well. She is a granddaughter of Carson City who has produced a few level-headed ATR grads in the past.

Unfortunately Eureka just missed our vet to get an evaluation the week of arrival, but we will have her seen soon. We are not expecting any limitations on this girl however, so stay tuned!

After the Races

A rehabbing and rehoming facility for retired Thoroughbred race horses, here at After the Races we have several nice OTTBs in need of great homes. Adoption fees are low and these horses are capable of going on to any discipline. Right now we have horses who would make fantastic trail or lesson mounts as well as those who could go on to high level showing. Many great projects. Please consider adopting today!
