2007 16.3 AQHA Gelding Zippo Sunsation grandson of Mr. Sun O Lena and Open Invitation
Born and raised in Montana and used as an all around ranch horse. When I bought him he was being used as a college rodeo calf horse. Used for 4 years in a Natural Horsemanship program in Montana and was transported back and forth every summer between Montana and Arizona. Will load in a straight load, slant or stock and travels easily by himself or with others.... (read more) I’ve used him as a trail horse, shown him in western pleasure, hunt seat, showmanship, etc, moved cows with him, ponied colts, he’s gone to our local 4th of July parade, lightly patterned on the barrels, I could go on and on. But here’s the thing, he’s slooooww. We’ve tried opening him up on a dirt track and he just prefers a medium canter (Well really he prefers walking). I think he’d do great with a youth rider in 4H or on the AQHA circuit. I moved back to Arizona after graduating college and he just hasn’t been getting used like he should be. He spends most of his days in a 20 acre field with a herd of mares and geldings. Easiest guy to catch and will stand stock still even when the rest of the group takes off. Perfect gentleman for the farrier and can be hot or cold shod. Does best with 4 shoes on. Fairly easy keeper (maintains well on alfalfa), up to date on shots, deworming and has a current coggins, also have AQHA transfer papers. Have tons of videos, just ask. In my opinion, he needs at least an advanced beginner (someone who knows leads, how to properly ask for W, T, C). He will play someone like a fiddle if he gets the chance. Not spooky on trails, but does prefer to have a job in the arena. He is priced LOW because I’m moving and he’s out of shape (could use a tuneup) and I would really like to see someone get his best years out of him. Yes I have an arena and round pen available for him to be tried out in, NO I do not have cows for you to rope off of him (I haven’t roped a cow off of him since I bought him).
