Lord Lister (Lou) is a laid back five year old Paint x Percheron located in Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi. He currently stands at 15.2hh and seems to still be growing (he string tests at 16.2).
He was started slowly about a year and a half ago using natural horsemanship. As a result, he has responsive handling on the ground. He knows how to move away from pressure, bend, flex, drift, and use his core. He loves to trail ride and seems like he might have an interest in working cattle occasionally.... (read more) He loads, stands for the farrier and vet, is easy to catch in the field and is the kind of horse that would do well with a single constant rider. Because he is young and green he would do best for a confident rider working with a trainer.
He has more whoa than go but has a nice rocking horse canter. He’s brave on the trail and not spooky. Lou is curious and goofy and lives for scratches on his chest and down his shoulder. He’s got an incredibly thick tail and a nice long mane and forelock. I would consider him green broke at this point in time. He has had about four months of professional training and the rest of his rides have been done by me, an adult (super) amateur.
Lou is my heart but I don’t have the time or money to have him consistently in work. He would do best with a confident rider who has the ability to ride him several times a week. I’d prefer him to go to a home with less humidity than we have in north Mississippi as he gets very hot in the summer and although he sweats plenty, he can breathe heavily at times.
Lou has been out of work for the past three months but is about to begin a month long refresher course with my trainer. Videos will be available soon.
