Maddie is an absolutely beautiful, non fading BLACK Drum mare with a blaze and two white socks. While she's gorgeous outside, it's her temperament and lovely character that really shines through. Never mare-ish, Maddie loves to work, loves people, and is an upbeat enthusiastic partner. Some great things about Maddie:
*Maddie is beautifully built for dressage. She was started by a professional dressage trainer, and had additional dressage training as well.... (read more) With a nice overstride at the walk, a light athletic trot and a pure canter, Maddie would excel in the dressage ring.
*Maddie shows a strong interest in jumping. While we've only jumped her over small jumps and grids, she's honest, fun, and most of all enjoys it.
*Maddie is developing into a great trail horse. She's sure footed and careful, and so comfortable to ride over terrain (like a couch!). She is comfortable with all horses on the trail, and never threatens to kick even when crowded. She's also learning gate work and can help her rider open and shut gates. She has been introduced to road riding and has done well. While she'll need finishing to trail ride alone or over running water, she has the makings of being an excellent trail mount.
*Maddie has frequently worked with top level clinicians in dressage and jumping. All have remarked on her talent and work ethic.
*Maddie goes equally well in a snaffle or English Hackamore.
*Because Maddie has not been overworked in her life (she was a teen girl's horse, and had a few years of light work when her owner was busy with school), she has very little wear and tear and feels like a 7 year old. She is SOUND.
*Maddie has great feet. She's always been barefoot, and sound even on gravel.
*Maddie is well bred, with both parents born in Ireland. (Sire: Prince Sheridan of Ravenhawk. Dam: Kyley. She was bred at Raven Hawk Ranch in Gwinn, Michigan.
Maddie would do best with an intermediate rider and above. While she's a good girl, she needs a rider who will be comfortable with her big movement and verve for life. Maddie has so much potential--I can see her being an excellent ( fancy yet affordable!) dressage mount for an adult in a lesson program, or a fun all around/jump/trail horse for a talented teen. Whoever is lucky enough to buy her will have a loyal, delightful partner who will put a smile on your face every day. Motivated seller--open to offers for a great home!
