My heart breaks to have to put my beautiful boy up for sale, but unfortunately I have no other choice. Bentley is a 9 yo OTTB. He is registered with the Jockey club and his registered name is “CANIGOTOO”. He won $57,095 during his racing career, up to the age of 3. About his name: when we went to pick up a yearling that we had just bought, but the lady that owned him, would only let us take the horse we bought, if we took this other horse along with him.... (read more) This “other horse” being, Bentley. His registered name spells out to be “can I go too?” He raced until he was three, with a successful racing career. My grandfather originally owned him, but Bentley lost the desire to keep racing. Because he was so successful, my grandfather turned him out for some time off the track in hopes of bringing him back to racing. While he was on his break, I completely fell head over heals for him and it was a match made in heaven. Of course, I asked my grandfather about him which led to me starting him as an eventer prospect. As soon as the decision was made to give him to me, he went right into training. He was in basic dressage training for about 4 and a half years. He had a bad colic which needed to have surgery on. I gave him a year off, debating whether I should put him back into work or not, which I did. I moved him to a training center in Fort Worth where we very soon learned that he was fond of jumping as jumping was fond of him. He is brilliant in the jumping ring, and has never refused or stopped at anything. He is SO driven and hard working to please his rider. He LOVES attention, and LOVES to be ridden. He is showing novice at the moment but is ready to move up the levels with his new owner/rider!! He is not a difficult ride what so ever, but he also is not a schoolmaster pony. Bentley would benefit from a somewhat experienced rider. He listens to his riders every move and word. He is whipping smart with beautiful gates. When jumping, he does get excited if he has had time off. He gets ridden on the flat 4 days out of the week and jumps 2. He will jump in an inside and outside arena. He has no vices or behavior issues. He doesn’t like loud noises (especially if they’re behind him). He has never taken off, or bucked me off. He is a barn favorite whenever he goes. He gets along with any horse and can be turned out with others or alone. He has not had any previous injuries. He is an easy keep and has ground manners. Huge fan of ANY treats. He will stand for the farrier, getting his mane pulled, or body clipped (good with his ears too) he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. I have him listed at $8000 but I will negotiate. My heart is so heavy when it comes to selling, Bentley. I am selling him because I do not have the time for two horses anymore. I would take him home and pasture him, but that would not be even close to fair for a horse at his age, with his potential and athleticism. Bentley has been such a wonderful horse for me to learn on and be around. He has never failed to amaze me and has never let me down. I am more focused on Bentley going to a GOOD home, where his potential could become something great.
