All Around, Project, Ranch Work, Started Under Saddle
Jax is a 9 year old 15.2 hand Paint Gelding with a LOT of stock. Big legs and big feet. Barefoot and sound.
Jax belongs to a client of mine who has THE biggest heart in the world. She rescued Jax about two months ago, and has been paying board and now training on him all in the interest of finding him a new and loving home that is appropriate. Jax has been in my program for about 30 days.
This horse has fantastic ground manners and is easily handled.... (read more) When my client first rescued Jax, she had a trainer (not myself) do a session with him, and long story short Jax was not lunged or ground-worked prior to being ridden, which resulted in bucking and the trainer being tossed. Following the incident he sat until he came to me about 30 days ago.
Since being at my barn he has been saddled daily, ground-worked, round-penned, bitted up, ground driven, had tarps thrown over him, has dragged leadropes, aluminum cans, you name it. He is not spooky in the slightest and takes things in stride. I have ridden him once or twice and he did offer to buck, but it was not anything unsettling and he did work through it. No rear or bolt or anything close. I would NOT consider this horse to be broke- as I believe broke horses know a little bit more then what he knows :) However, the proper groundwork has been done.
My client is on the beginner spectrum of horses and is not able to do the work on this guy herself, and I really hate to see her keep spending money on a horse that will not be appropriate for her. This guy would be a great project for an EXPERIENCED rider or trainer that can put the time in. He is very flashy and a cute mover. I have a short clip below of me working him in the round pen doing some basic lunge work and moving his body around a bit.
Price is negotiable. Just looking to possibly help her recoup some of the costs associated with him, but the biggest concern is finding him a home in a good situation with a knowledgable owner. A no slaughter contract would be signed- we don't want him to end up where he was.
Please PM me with any and all questions. I am an open book with this horse and want him to go to the right situation.
