He has very nice canter departures as well. He is a rock solid trail horse and doesn't care where the other horses are out on the trails. He will go out alone, great lead horse, of put him wherever you want him. Chipper can sit for long periods of time and you can pull him out, tack him up and he rides off like he never had off. He STAYS broke. He flexes laterally and vertically. Disengages hind quarters. He is nice and soft and very enjoyable to ride. Traffic safe, not bothers by farm machinery, ATVs, motorcycles, trailers etc. Rides with dogs. He is use to seeing all sorts of wildlife and not phased. Chipper will go over bridges, through mud and water, up and down steep hills, over rocks and dead fall, he goes where you ask. He has been desensitized to many things including umbrellas, slickers, ropes, stick n string, tarps, wooden pallets, he carries saddle bags, horn bags, flags, plastic bags, you name it. He will stand at a mounting block or mount from the ground. You can pony off of him or pony him. You can tack him up and mount and dismount from either side. He stands quiet for grooming and tacking. Will ride double or bareback and in a halter and lead. He has nice legs and feet. To top it off, he has a huge heart and TONS of patients. We have had complete beginner adults and small children under supervision on him and he behaves well under saddle and on the ground. I ride with my 16 month old grandson in front of me, this is how much i trust this horse. He is great for the vet and farrier and has always been very well cared for. If you have made it this far in the ad thank you, now to hear about his vice. Chipper wears a cribbing collar to manage his cribbing. He has been on pasture for the last 10 yrs and does very well.
