Shadow is a 13yo Appendix Gelding who is an experienced eventer capable of packing anyone around the lower levels - an adult amateur who had never evented before was taken safely from beginner novice to training level by this horse. Shadow is an incredibly honest jumper and a true cross country machine - banks, ditches, water are all no problem, he will jump anything! He is an extremely comfortable ride at all gaits and while being an athletic and honest jumper, keeps his rider in the tack over fences.... (read more) His canter resembles sitting on a couch. He was one of only two horses in a large Novice Rider division at the November Poplar Place HT to get zero cross country jump penalties in the pouring rain, allowing a first place finish showing just how honest, smart, careful, and safe he is. He is qualified for the 2016 American Eventing Championships at Novice level. Shadow has extensively schooled training level eventing and even some prelim cross country and show jumping and ribboned in several training level schooling shows. Could easily be a successful training level horse with a rider who is comfortable at that height. He has plenty of scope and talent while also being a safe, reliable mount for someone looking to learn how to event or gain more confidence. Shadow would excel with an adult amateur or pony clubber who has soft hands and understands less is more on the flat.
Shadow competed as a member of the University of Georgia Eventing team for 3 years and has been ridden in numerous team clinics under the instruction of 4* and Olympic level riders. Shadow has helped the UGA Eventing Team bring home numerous team wins and has helped his current owner earn several individual college rider awards as well as be featured in Eventing USA magazine.
Shadow is one of the sweetest horses on the ground with no aggressive behaviors. He loves attention and treats. He stands quietly for clipping, bathing, the farrier, the vet, and walks peacefully onto trailers. He can be turned out alone or with others - he is very passive with other horses. He can be ridden on trails alone or with others. He calmly steps over logs or fallen trees, walks through water, crosses bridges, etc. He enjoys practicing the trail obstacles at our current barn - walking over the see-saw and tarp.
Shadow is for sale to a good home only solely because the owner is a recent college graduate who is looking to save money for the future and is lacking time due to a full time job.
