This striking dark dappled bay Hackney Horse gelding is ready for a home who will help him achieve great things as a riding or driving horse.
Atticus sticks just a hair under 15.3 unshod (16 hands in road shoes). He is currently barefoot and has phenomenal feet. He is an easy keeper and lives on pasture grass and a small grain meal once daily. Atticus loves living outside with his herd, but is equally happy when brought inside. He is middle man on the totem pole, and gets along with everyone.... (read more) Easy to catch and a pleasure to work with on the ground, Atticus has excellent manners with the farrier and while grooming. He shipped to me from Pennsylvania with no problems, and was easy to load for the shipper who transported him.
Atticus came to me this spring through an Amish to English liason. Prior to coming to the "English" world, he was an Amish driving horse and as such, has extensive road mileage. Since coming to Georgia, he's learned a lot about being a friend and companion, not just the "car" that people use to go from point A to B. I have backed him eight times, and he shows promise as a riding horse as well. He is being sold as a prospect, and will happily show off his beautiful gaits in the round pen, on the lunge line, or in the field. I do not have a harness or cart to drive him with, but can also show him in long lines.
Atty has a lovely way of going with a huge, purposeful walk; a beautiful trot that is full of suspension; and a canter that is to die for. He simply floats across the ground and is a joy to watch.
Currently asking the $3700 I paid for him this spring prior to his introduction to the "English" world. A wonderful home is absolutely essential, only the best will be considered. Please call Heather at 404-267-3398 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org for many more pictures and video links.
