Beautiful grey Tobiano gelding ( he is flea bitten white unless wet) He is around 15 or more hands tall and is a elegant horse. We bought him this past winter from a lady that was a horse trainer. She had owned him approx. 4 years and had rode him in trail competitions and won trophies and ribbons on him. She was a horse trainer and had been training another horse who badly injured her. she had not been able to ride any for the previous year and so this guy hadn't been rode in quite a while.... One of my adult daughters rode him a few weeks after we bought him with another one of our daughters and another gelding we had. They got along beautiful and she just loved him and didn't have any problems at all.
We weren't able to ride him again until this past week. We took horses to Melvern and Pomona Lakes. He did great on the trails although the first day out he seemed pumped and really wanted to walk out. Our other non-gaited horses had to constantly trot to keep up so we tried him in the middle and the back. He rode along just fine but our other horses do not like a horse close up so will kick at them.
He was very mellow until we tried to ride him away from the mares he had buddied up with and he became ansty , dancy. He seemed to really sour up when we tried to get him away from the girls so I would not recommend him for a beginner rider.
The other pet peeve I have with this guy is that he can be tricky to catch- something that drives me crazy! LOL
He was easy to catch in the pens when he wants to be caught- will walk right up to you. However, it can be tricky out in a pasture.
We have decided we are not a good fit for this horse. I am sure he will make someone a wonderful horse but we need something that is very family friendly, most likely not gaited, easy to catch and something most anyone can ride- from beginners to advanced. I may trade and may put some cash with the right horse. I am looking for something preferably stocky and around 10 years of age, easy to catch! LOL with a lot of chrome and eye appeal.
Please - no texting and please call since I rarely answer e-mails due to the scammers.
(If doing a trade, must be within driving distance so we can try out the horse- something like 5 hours max or less.
