Little Jack Nimble is the nicest pony I have ever come across. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, towards human or fellow animal. You can train a pony to be obedient, but you can't train a naturally kind temperament. He has never kicked out, offered to bite, reared, pinned back his ears, or looked sour. He has a lot of heart and will give you everything he has to please you. Add to this invaluable demeanor his flashy buckskin coloring and silver-frosted mane AND his impeccable bloodlines, you get a once-in-a-lifetime pony.... (read more)
He is a very safe, kid-friendly pony. My 5-year-old catches him, leads him at a walk or trot, grooms, and tacks up all by herself (the parts she can). She sits and lays on him in his paddock with no tack on him, even during feed time. She rides him into the horse trailer. She plays pony club type games on him. She rides him in the arena, out in the open fields, and by traffic next to the road. She is totally comfortable on him, even though he she is not a naturally confident rider. She recently took him to their first show and entered the walk/trot/cross rails class! They took 3rd place, beating way more experienced riders and horses. It was his first time away from home ALONE and his first time at this show location and his first time in this type of atmosphere. He didn't fidget, spook, neigh, or act up once. At the same show, my 9-year-old daughter and Jack placed first in an 18" course jumper class.
He knows the difference between a beginner rider like my 5-year-old and an intermediate/advanced rider like my 7 and 9-year-old girls. When a beginner is on him, he is slower and more cautious. He waits for a very clear cue to move up to the next gait. I have witnessed this time and time again with various riders. When a very confident rider is on him, he is quick to respond and do exactly what is azsked of him when it is asked of him. Either way, he is easy to move up and easy to stop.
He is three years old. I know that is an immediate red flag for many trainers and parents, but you would never know he was three by watching him. He is quieter than every single one of my horses, which range from 5-12 years old. My 9-year-old has put a lot of miles and training into this buckskin pony. He has gone trail riding multiple times in the deep woods. He will lead or follow. He rides through water and swims. He has been ridden double and bareback. He has been ridden side saddle with my daughter wearing a long dress draped over his bottom. He rides by traffic. He has been densensitized to a lot, especially as there is a lot of craziness on our property. He is a pony that can go from a sweaty trail ride one day to a crisp show ring the next. My daughter has been working him into a hunter jumper pony. He knows his flat work and can navigate a jump course and change his leads.
He is up to date on everything and has always been healthy and sound. The $3500 price is firm and really a superb deal for this pony. My children do not want to sell him, and if he doesn't sell, we will happily hold onto him. I just thought I would offer him to a loving family, as my hands are too full. Please do not email.
