Geordi is a beautiful chestnut OTTB, 24 y.o., 15.3hh. He has been ridden exclusively in the dressage discipline for the past 20 years and is very good at what he does. He does not have any "old horse" problems, no arthritis, in excellent health, no history of lameness or colic. He is a hard keeper in the winter but does well in Spring/Summer. I bought Geordi when he was 17 as a schoolmaster, hoping that I could learn the discipline of dressage with him.... (read more) I experienced some frustrations when I came off a few times, and I quit riding for several years. Recently I decided to try again but have realized he is not really a beginner horse; he would do best with an intermediate or advanced rider. 95% of the time he is a dream to ride: beautiful self carriage, balanced, floating gaits, easily rated, soft mouth, very responsive and willing, plenty of energy. Super sweet personality to boot, and he was a GREAT "Uncle Geordi" to my 2010 colt! However, the 5% involves episodes of bucking, sometimes with no explanation; I am not experienced enough to handle these episodes or work through them appropriately, and at 49 y.o., safety is my number one concern! I have realized he is not the horse for me, but I don't want him to go to waste! He would do very well at a dressage barn where he would be ridden several times a week if not daily, and with a confident rider who can keep him busy and focused. On my small family farm with no trainer and my lack of experience, this is not a realistic scenario for me. Geordi is a great horse and deserves a great partner!
