Paint mare pony, 9 years old, approx. 13h tall. Very sweet to catch, load, haul, tie, tack, pick up feet.
We rode her for the first time today, below are the pictures. I lunged her first which she probably has never done and she kept wanting to stop at my kids to get petted.
She did kick up with the saddle because we have long strings that were slapping her on the bottom, we pack so our strings are about 3ft long and it was clear she has never had anything like that slapping her.... (read more) She didn't go crazy or drop her head and buck, she just kicked up not knowing what it was. After a bit I tied the strings up, put her little "O Ring" snaffle on, my daughter climbed on and off they went. Since we feed her twice a day and she hasn't been ridden in 4 months she wanted to trot a little bit, but was no problem for her to handle at all and in a few minutes was calm and going really nice. A bit rusty on her back up but she has one and may or may not know how to neck rein. She will just need a few wet pads and she will be GREAT! She will be fresh for a while and needs a bit or riding, but was very sweet and not anxious or rowdy at all. If you are going to trail ride I would pony her once first then go. Hope this helps.
She came from a home in Owasso where they have not ridden her in four months due to a loss of a family member and being very busy with all that entails. She was very loved and ridden by a child there. The picture of the child riding her is from her previous owner.
Having her feet trimmed on Sat. 9/5/15 and will get on then as well.
She is a dominant little mare, but once boundaries are established she is done, she does like to go from food dish to food dish, so if something else HAS to eat a certain dish I would just put one of the two up.
She is a VERY nice size and build, I am used to the starved ponies I rescue and she is not that for sure. Teeth have been floated and wolf teeth pulled in 2014 and all shots have been given by previous owner and she has been wormed.
