All Around, Husband Safe, Ridden Western, Trail Riding, Western Riding, Working Cattle, Youth
“Trooper” is a 5 year old buckskin gelding and stands 14.1 hands tall. Even from the very beginning with not being ridden in over a year this little powerhouse has given us everything we could ask for. The day after we brought him home I saddled him up and took him out across the back field with no hesitations at all from him. No whinnying, no stops, bolting, buck, rear, balk, head tossing, NOTHING! I figured if he was going to try something I was going to give him a shot right from the start and he never did....... (read more) (read more) Halfway across the field I asked for a lope at which time he went into a very smooth lope and he continued until asked to slow down. He then went back down into a walk and continued on to the direction I asked. In the next half an hour I exposed him about anything I could think of and got on and off of him numerous times on the trail with no problems. I even got off twice to throw some limbs that had fallen on the fence off and our Angus bull was less than 20 ft away and he never offered to refuse anything that was asked of him. Since he is a lot farther along in his training than we thought he was we have already put him on cattle with very good results. As you can see on the YouTube video even our big Longhorn bull doesn’t even faze him. The nicest part about working him with cattle is that you can take him off of one cow and got right to another with no hesitation. He is being ridden almost every day. Trooper is a great trail horse and would be a great beginner cattle sorting horse for a youth or novice rider. He is not a deadhead but will just walk along if asked. I have had him up in the arena during a roping practice withthe roping sled and other horses don’t bother him, but he’s not crazy about ropes at this time. That’s about the only hole we have found in him. He also gets along well with other horses and loads good. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 865-250-9538. The price will go up as his training progresses. Price $2000 You can also see his videos on the link posted below. http://www.barmranchandarena.com/horse-of-the-month.html - See more at: http://www.equinenow.com/place_ad.htm#sthash.AhOqBlmc.dpuf
