Stella is an 11 year old bay standardbred mare that stands 15.2h. She is good to handle, easy to catch and has begun her training as a riding horse. She is getting the concept of lengthening and shortening in the trot along with shoulder in, leg yield and turn on the forehand. She has a beautiful flowing trot and the beginnings of her lengthen are effortless and powerful. She has a soft mouth, rides in a oval link loose ring, and knows the commands trot, walk and whoa.... Stella rides both indoor and out but seems to enjoy riding outside more. She gets nervous in an indoor but is not dangerous. She is a pacer but does canter with a rider on her back. Her canter is unbalanced due to her inexperience but it will get better with work and time. I have taken her over trot poles and a few small jumps but she is not brave to them. She hesitates but will go over with coaxing so I do not recommend an inexperienced rider for her. She would be best suited for a rider that loves working outdoors and is happy doing flat work. Her jumping form is nice but I do not think that she herself enjoys it.
She clips, ties, trailers and bathes. Is current on her shots and does not require sedation for her teeth. Has never been hot shod with me as I have kept her barefoot. Stella comes in at night and during inclement weather but before I owned her she was living outside 24/7. She could go back to outdoor board, it just may take a few days for her to settle in. She is also not an alpha mare.
I've put her temperament at a 3 only due to her being nervous when riding indoors. Outside she rides completely differently.
